Driver Critical As Speeding Trailer Loses Control Late Friday Night

JAMSHEDPUR – A major road accident was averted late Friday night near the Voltas roundabout under Bistupur police station limits. A speeding 22-wheeler trailer went out of control and rammed into the divider built in the middle of the road.
The impact was severe enough to badly damage the front portion of the trailer. Meanwhile, the driver suffered critical injuries in the crash. According to eyewitnesses, the trailer was heading towards Bistupur when the driver lost control of the vehicle just as it approached the roundabout.
The loud sound of the collision drew nearby residents to the spot. For a short while, the area witnessed scenes of panic and confusion. Local residents alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. However, official confirmation of this claim will only come after a medical examination report is released.
The driver became trapped inside the trailer’s cabin following the impact. With help from local residents and police personnel, he was eventually pulled out and rushed to a hospital for treatment. Other vehicles were also passing through the stretch when the accident occurred.
Residents said that had the trailer not struck the divider, it could have ploughed into several other vehicles on the road, potentially causing a much larger accident. No injuries to anyone other than the driver have been reported in connection with the incident.
Bistupur police reached the spot soon after being alerted and began their investigation. Traffic along the stretch remained affected for some time because of the damaged trailer blocking the road. A crane was later used to remove the vehicle, after which traffic movement returned to normal. Police are continuing to probe the exact circumstances behind the crash.
Road accidents involving heavy vehicles losing control at busy junctions have remained a recurring concern in Jamshedpur, with traffic and law enforcement officials periodically reviewing safety measures at high-risk crossings across the city.
