52 Cadets Join Puneet Sagar Abhiyan 2026 to Spread Water Conservation Message in Sonari

JAMSHEDPUR – The NCC unit of Karim City College conducted a successful river cleaning drive at the Domuani River in Sonari on the occasion of World Ocean Day under the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan 2026.
A total of 52 cadets participated in the drive. Of these, 32 belonged to the Senior Division. The remaining 20 were from the Senior Wing.
The cadets cleaned the riverbanks thoroughly. They also spread awareness among locals about the importance of water resource protection and environmental care.
The Sonari river cleaning initiative was conducted under the supervision of two PIA staff members of the battalion. They guided the cadets throughout the programme.
On the occasion, the cadets were also made aware of their civic responsibilities. These included maintaining cleanliness of water bodies and protecting the environment.
The drive was led by NCC officer Major Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmad. It was carried out under his direct oversight and guidance on environmental awareness.
The Karim City College principal, Dr. Muhammad Reyaz, congratulated the NCC officer. He also appreciated all the participating cadets for their efforts.
The cadets pledged to take part in similar environmental and cleanliness campaigns in future as well. This commitment was made voluntarily by the cadets at the end of the programme.
The Puneet Sagar Abhiyan is a national-level NCC initiative. It aims to protect rivers and water bodies across the country by engaging cadets in cleaning drives.
Meanwhile, World Ocean Day, observed each year on June 8, focuses on the health of global water ecosystems. The Domuani River drive in Jamshedpur is part of this wider national effort.
