Student Group Felicitates Sonu Thakur in Jamshedpur

Event Highlights University Issues and Allegations

Key Points:

  • Sonu Thakur Honored at Cooperative College Event
  • Land Allocation Process Questioned by Student Leaders
  • Probe Delay and Misconduct Allegations Raised

JAMSHEDPUR – A student group event honored Sonu Thakur while raising concerns over land allocation and pending investigations at Kolhan University.

The Kolhan Chhatra Sangharsh Morcha organized an event on Monday. It was held at Cooperative College campus in Jamshedpur.

Meanwhile, Sonu Thakur was felicitated with a ceremonial shawl. He recently became a Senate and Syndicate member.

Afterward, a press briefing was conducted by the organization. Several university-related issues were discussed in detail.

However, Thakur highlighted concerns over land allocation to Cooperative Law College. He alleged irregularities in a decision taken in 2003.

Moreover, he said proper procedures were likely ignored during allocation. He added that recognition issues with Bar Council indicate lapses.

“If the process was valid, repeated appeals would not occur,” a member stated.

On the other hand, another issue involved the Senate meeting held on April 24. Thakur said a probe into alleged irregularities remains incomplete.

Meanwhile, the investigation was ordered by Raj Bhavan in 2023. It concerned alleged corruption during Amar Singh’s tenure.

However, Thakur claimed the issue was raised during the meeting. He alleged that Amar Singh used inappropriate language.

Moreover, student representatives were reportedly targeted during the exchange. This led to strong reactions from the organization.

The group condemned the conduct strongly. They demanded strict disciplinary action against the concerned individual.

Meanwhile, student leaders said transfer alone would not suffice. They also demanded a public apology.

In contrast, they warned of legal action if demands are ignored. A defamation case is under consideration.

Several members attended the briefing. These included Virendra Kumar, Deepak Pandey, and Kundan Yadav.
