MP Sanjay Seth Demands Action over JPSC Exam Paper Fiasco in Ranchi and Bokaro

Question Papers Failed to Reach Two Centres; Education and Odia Exams Cancelled

Key Points:

  • Question papers did not reach exam centres in Bokaro and Ranchi on April 26
  • JPSC cancels Education-009 and Odia-023 papers; fresh dates to be announced later
  • Ranchi MP and MoS Defence Sanjay Seth demands action against those responsible

RANCHI – Ranchi Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Sunday demanded accountability and strict action against those responsible after question papers failed to reach examination centres in Bokaro and Ranchi during the Jharkhand Eligibility Test 2024, forcing the Jharkhand Public Service Commission to cancel the Education and Odia language papers at the affected centres.

According to a press notice issued by JPSC, the commission received information that question papers were unavailable in sufficient quantity and were also not in a readable condition at two specific centres on April 26. The affected centres were Sardar Patel Public School, Sector-IX, BS City, Bokaro — where the Education (Code-009) paper was scheduled — and A.S.T.V.S District CM School of Excellence, Shahid Chowk, Ranchi — where the Odia (Code-023) paper was to be held.

In view of the situation, JPSC cancelled both the Education-009 and Odia-023 examinations at the respective centres. The commission stated that fresh information regarding the conduct of these two papers would be issued separately.

Reacting sharply to the development, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth posted on social media calling the incident extremely unfortunate. “What happened today in the eligibility exam conducted by JPSC is a grave act of negligence,” he said. He added that cancelling the exam was not a solution and that action must also be ensured against those found responsible.

Seth said the incident could not be dismissed as a mere administrative lapse. He described it as a serious blow to the hard work, time, and future of the youth. Candidates who had spent months preparing for a single examination had to face severe hardship and outrage on the day of the exam, he noted.

The Ranchi MP further questioned how long Jharkhand’s youth would have to endure such negligence. He stressed that those who squandered the struggles and dreams of young aspirants should not be allowed to escape with merely a press release. The JPSC notice is available on the commission’s official website at www.jpsc.gov.in.
