Railway Police Bust Gang Terrorizing Bihar-Jharkhand Trains

Four Arrested After Targeting Women Passengers in AC Coach Theft

DHANBAD – Dhanbad Railway Police dismantled a criminal gang on Tuesday. The group terrorized passengers traveling between Bihar and Jharkhand.

Four gang members were arrested during the operation. Police recovered stolen items including purses and mobile phones. However, the gang leader escaped and remains absconding.

Railway Superintendent Kailash Karmali revealed the gang’s activities. They operated on passenger trains for several months. Moreover, women passengers in AC coaches became primary targets.

The incident occurred on December 19-20 night. Female passengers slept in Tata-Jaynagar Express AC coach. In addition, thieves stole their belongings near midnight.

The criminals pulled the chain near Pradhankanta station. They escaped using darkness and fog as cover. Meanwhile, alert passengers attempted to chase the suspects.

The robbers disappeared into nearby forest areas quickly. A special team was formed under DSP leadership. Furthermore, investigators conducted extensive raids to track suspects.

Police arrested Vikas Kumar Saw from Dhanbad district. Akash Kumar Saw hails from Jehanabad in Bihar. On the other hand, Rounak Kumar and Sachin Kumar alias Kallu belong to Dhanbad.

Officers recovered five ladies’ purses during searches. Two silver chains and one silver ring were seized. Besides, investigators found one silver anklet and coin.

The haul included Rs 1,220 in cash. Four mobile phones and headphones were recovered. In addition, three bags filled with clothes were confiscated.

Police seized two spectacles and cosmetic items. One roll-gold locket and earrings were found. Moreover, pocket purses contained multiple Aadhaar cards.

All arrested criminals possess extensive criminal histories. They committed numerous crimes on trains across states. Furthermore, their operations spanned multiple railway routes.

The gang stayed at a Dhanbad hotel previously. Planning occurred approximately 15 days before the incident. Express trains near Tatanagar station reported similar theft cases recently.

Railway Police intensified security measures following these incidents. RPF and GRP forces coordinate operations at major stations. Meanwhile, RIT Police solved previous cases involving railway crimes efficiently.

SP Karmali confirmed ongoing efforts to apprehend ringleader. The absconding criminal will be caught soon. Officers continue surveillance across potential hideout locations.
