Jharkhand Minister Hafizul Ansari Faces Allegations for Disrespecting National Anthem

Complaint filed by BJP youth wing officebearer Rahul Dubey for alleged disrespect during the national anthem.

Jharkhand Minister Hafizul Ansari has been accused of disrespecting the national anthem in a complaint filed at Argora police station in Ranchi.

RANCHI – Jharkhand Minister Hafizul Ansari faces allegations of disrespecting the national anthem, as a complaint was filed against him by BJP youth wing official Rahul Dubey at Argora police station in Ranchi.

The complaint states that Minister Ansari was adjusting his clothing during the national anthem, an act captured on camera and deemed disrespectful.

This incident reportedly occurred on July 8 during the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s cabinet ministers.

All attendees were standing in attention, but Ansari was allegedly seen fixing his clothes during the anthem, which BJP has taken as an insult to national pride.

The police are currently investigating the matter.

The complaint also highlights that the incident took place just before the swearing-in ceremony began.

Minister Ansari’s actions during the anthem have sparked controversy and led to BJP filing the complaint.

Additionally, during his oath-taking, Minister Hafizul Ansari started with “Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim,” which BJP has criticized as unconstitutional.

Opposition leaders Amar Bauri and Chief Whip Biranchi Narayan met with the Governor, submitting a memorandum demanding action and a re-oath for Ansari.

BJP claims that starting the oath with a religious phrase is unconstitutional and demands that Ansari be relieved of his ministerial duties until he retakes the oath correctly.

The Governor assured that appropriate steps would be taken.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP’s election co-incharge for Jharkhand, stated that they would not remain silent on this issue and questioned the protocol of oath-taking in the state.

Hafizul Ansari, a legislator from Madhupur, won the by-election in 2021 after the death of his father, Haji Hussain Ansari, and has served as a minister three times.

Ansari, aged 50 and a diploma holder in mining survey, defended his actions, stating that he begins all his work with “Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim” as a matter of faith, and this issue is being unnecessarily politicized.

The issue has also come into limelight on social media and is being debated.
