Jharkhand Braces for Heavy Monsoon Rains

Meteorological Department issues yellow alert for several districts

Monsoon activity intensifies across Jharkhand, with Kolebira recording 80mm rainfall in 24 hours and more heavy showers forecast for coming days.

RANCHI – The monsoon has picked up pace in Jharkhand, bringing substantial rainfall to various districts and prompting weather alerts for the coming week.

Kolebira in Simdega district led with approximately 80mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, while Giridih received 50mm.

"We’re expecting heavy rainfall in northeastern districts on June 24 and 25," a spokesperson from the Ranchi Meteorological Center stated.

The districts of Jamtara, Deoghar, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj are likely to experience significant precipitation in the next two days.

Santhal Pargana, Kharsawan Seraikela, and Singhbhum East are forecasted to receive heavy rainfall on June 26.

A yellow alert has been issued for Ranchi, Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, and Koderma for June 27 and 28, warning of thunderstorms and strong winds.

The capital city, Ranchi, is expected to see light to moderate rainfall on June 24 and 25, with temperatures ranging between 24°C and 33°C.

Monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea are approaching the Kolhan region, likely to impact weather patterns in the coming days.

The continuous rainfall has provided relief from recent heatwave conditions, with most districts now recording maximum temperatures below 40°C.

Daltonganj remained the hottest area, with temperatures hovering around 40°C.
