Anti-Drug Awareness Program Launched in Seraikela District

District-wide campaign against drug abuse initiated with awareness vehicles flagged off by officials.

Jamshedpur will run an awareness campaign against drug abuse from June 19 to 26, 2024, to educate the public about the dangers of drug misuse.

SERAIKELA – In response to the directives of District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Shri Ravi Shankar Shukla, an awareness program against drug abuse will be conducted from June 19 to June 26, 2024, across the district.

To kick off the campaign, Deputy Development Commissioner Shri Prabhat Kumar Bardiar flagged off an awareness vehicle from the Collectorate premises today.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri Sanjay Kumar Das, Deputy Election Officer Shri Gautam Prasad Sahu, District Welfare Officer Shri Gopi Oraon, District Public Relations Officer Shri Avinash Kumar, and District Social Welfare Officer Smt. Satya Thakur were present at the occasion.

Deputy Development Commissioner Bardiar emphasized the campaign’s objective to reduce drug misuse, enforce strict legal action against drug traffickers and users, and educate society, especially adolescents and youth, about the harmful effects of drugs.

A state-wide awareness initiative proposed by the State Government will also be implemented in the district.

As part of this campaign, two awareness chariots for the Saraikela and Chandil subdivisions were dispatched today.

These chariots will travel to various rural and urban areas within the subdivisions to provide detailed information about drug abuse and its detrimental effects on health and family.

Bardiar stressed the importance of coordination among all departments and agencies for the campaign’s success.

The district administration, non-governmental institutions, women’s organizations of JSLPS, Panchayati Raj institutions, and educational institutions have been directed to organize programs independently.

An action plan has been developed to raise awareness through various activities at the district, block, and panchayat levels, ensuring broad participation.

The Deputy Development Commissioner urged the community to cooperate with the district administration to successfully implement the campaign and educate the younger generation about the dangers of drug abuse.
