BOKARO – Bokaro police have arrested a man accused of threatening to leak a woman’s objectionable photos and videos, ending a three-month manhunt. Raja Babu Das, a resident of Babhandangra in Chandankiyari, was picked up from Dharamshala Mor in Chas.
Police said Das had allegedly threatened a woman from Karharia village, under Balidih police station limits, with releasing her private photos and videos online. A case was registered against him under cyber crime sections following the woman’s complaint.
According to police, the accused and the woman had previously been married. Das later remarried, after which the woman alleged he began threatening to circulate her photos and videos.
Officers had been searching for the accused since the case was first registered. Despite repeated attempts, Das managed to evade arrest for nearly three months.
Police eventually traced his location and apprehended him at Dharamshala Mor in Chas. He has since been taken into custody.
Following the arrest, police have begun the process of sending the accused to judicial custody. The case is being handled by the Balidih police station.
Bokaro police said their continuing action against cyber offenders shows that those misusing photos or videos on social media remain under close watch. The department has stepped up cyber crime enforcement across the district in recent months.
