State-Level Tournament Concludes With Closing Ceremony at JRD Tata Sports Complex

JAMSHEDPUR – The two-day DAV Sports State-Level Tournament for athletics and squash concluded on Wednesday with a closing ceremony and prize distribution held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Bistupur. The meet was jointly hosted by DAV Public School, NIT Campus, Adityapur, and DAV Public School, Bistupur.
Sumona Isha Mandal of Class XII-H from DAV Public School, Bistupur, won double gold in the 100m and 200m sprints, emerging as the standout performer of the tournament. Her wins came on the opening day, which also featured finals in shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, long jump, high jump, and the 1500m and 400m races across the under-14, under-17 and under-19 categories for both boys and girls.
The first day also included heats for the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m races along with the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. The second day of competition featured the finals of these sprint and relay events, along with the triple jump across all age groups, while the squash courts hosted the tournament’s concluding matches.
Results were announced during the closing ceremony, with winners and runners-up receiving their prizes. Medals were presented by state sports coordinator Pragya Singh, principal of DAV Public School, Bistupur, and Rekha Kumari, principal of DAV Public School, NIT Campus, Adityapur, along with principals from the participating schools, including Shashi Kala of Tata DAV School, Noamundi, Madhavi Pandey of DAV Public School, Gumla, S.K. Mishra of DAV Public School, Simdega, and Bibekanand Ghosh of DAV PS, Jhinkpani.
The ceremony concluded with the lowering of the sports flag, officially declared closed by state coordinator Pragya Singh, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. Host schools congratulated all finalists and champions who have qualified for the DAV National Sports Meet, where they will represent the Jharkhand zone at the national level.
