JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Main Hospital marked World Vascular Day 2026 on Thursday with a gathering of more than 150 healthcare professionals at the TMH Auditorium. The event drew consultants, nursing staff and hospital dignitaries.
The celebration highlighted milestones reached by the hospital’s Department of Vascular Surgery. Doctors have completed 1,020 open vascular surgical procedures at the institution to date.
The department has also carried out 145 endovascular interventions. Officials said the numbers reflect continued growth in vascular services at the hospital.
A multidisciplinary symposium formed a key part of the programme. It was titled “Not All Roads Lead to Varicose Veins: A Practical Approach to Lower Limb Oedema.”
Experts from Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery and Vascular Surgery took part in the session. The interactive discussion covered various causes of leg swelling among patients.
Speakers also addressed diagnostic approaches and referral pathways during the session. Delegates were introduced to strategies for collaborative patient management across departments.
Attendees praised the symposium for its clinical relevance and practical applicability. Organisers said the interactive format was well received by delegates.
Dr Prashant Raman, Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Tata Main Hospital, led the programme. He has been driving the development of vascular services at the institution.
Dr Ashok Sunder, Chief Medical Indoor Services, and Dr Mamta Rath Datta, Chief Medical Support Services, attended the event. Heads of various departments and senior hospital leaders were also present.
Dr Vinita Singh, General Manager of Medical Services, served as chief guest. She commended the vascular surgery team for its progress in clinical care, innovation and education.
Singh also praised the department’s multidisciplinary collaboration in her concluding remarks. However, she did not detail specific future targets for the department during the event.
Meanwhile, the programme concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony. Organisers said the hospital remains committed to strengthening vascular care services across the region.
In addition, the department’s endovascular caseload has grown alongside its open surgical volumes in recent years. TMH continues to expand its specialised surgical offerings as part of its broader medical services at the facility.
