- Train delays in Chakradharpur division a chronic complaint of passengers
JAMSHEDPUR — Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has raised the issue of prolonged detention of train 68124, the Tatanagar-Kharagpur MEMU local, at intermediate stations, posting about it on X and tagging the Union Railway Minister.
Roy took to the social media platform X on May 14 to question why the local train was being held up for extended durations at several stations along its route.
In his post, he also tagged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, escalating the matter directly to the top railway authority.
This is not the first time the Jamshedpur West legislator has flagged the chronic train delays at Tatanagar.
In early April, he had announced a protest over the same issue.
Subsequently, he led a sit-in protest at Tatanagar station against delays affecting passenger trains.
Roy had also warned that he would intensify the agitation if the railways did not act.
Train 68124 departs from Tatanagar Junction at 5:50 PM daily.
It halts at Govindpur PH, Asanboni, Rakha Mines, Galudih, and Ghatsila before reaching Kharagpur.
According to the train tracking data shared by Roy, significant delays were recorded across these stations on May 14.
Meanwhile, Roy has consistently maintained that the punctuality of passenger trains must take precedence over freight movements in the Chakradharpur division.
Various passenger associations in the Chakradharpur division have also raised the train delay issue at different times.
Roy had earlier stated that he would decide the future strategy on railway delays after assessing the railways’ response.
The South Eastern Railway recently got a new General Manager, Anil Kumar Jain, who took charge of the zone under which the Chakradharpur division falls.
