South Eastern Railway Plans Pre-NI Block for Third Line

Third Track Between Adityapur and Salgajhari Set for February 2026

Key Points:

  • Pre-NI block planned for Adityapur-Salgajhari third line
  • February 2026 deadline set for project completion
  • General Manager directly monitoring execution progress

JAMSHEDPUR – South Eastern Railway is preparing a pre-non-interlocking block to commission the third line between Adityapur and Salgajhari, targeting completion by February 2026.

South Eastern Railway is planning a Pre-NI block for the new line commissioning. The section lies between Adityapur and Salgajhari West Cabin. However, officials have not announced the block schedule. Meanwhile, preparations for signaling and safety clearances are ongoing.

The railway zone has fixed February 2026 as the project deadline. The third line aims to improve sectional capacity. Moreover, the corridor handles heavy freight and passenger traffic. Officials say congestion frequently affects operational punctuality.

The project is under direct supervision of the General Manager. Senior officers conduct regular progress reviews. In contrast, earlier phases faced land and coordination delays. Railway engineers now report improved execution speed.

The Adityapur-Salgajhari stretch connects industrial routes near Jamshedpur. Meanwhile, the line supports movements toward Chakradharpur and Tatanagar. The additional track is expected to ease bottlenecks significantly.

South Eastern Railway has recently adjusted operations across the zone. It canceled trains during dense fog periods earlier. Fog season cancellations affected multiple divisions.

On the other hand, the Ranchi Division also saw service disruptions. Twelve trains were canceled due to operational constraints. Railway officials cited safety considerations.

Meanwhile, special arrangements were announced for religious travel demand. Kumbh Mela special trains were introduced for pilgrims. Additional amenities were also expanded.

Moreover, infrastructure upgrades continue across stations. Water vending machines installation was approved earlier. Speed enhancement measures were also implemented. Speed upgrades targeted key routes.
