JAMSHEDPUR – A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a seven-year-old girl in Raghunath Deeh village under Dhalbhumgarh block in Jamshedpur.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening between 6 PM and 7 PM. It took place in the Joonbani panchayat area of Dhalbhumgarh block. The victim’s father submitted a written complaint at Dhalbhumgarh police station on Tuesday.
Police arrested the accused, identified as Shobhan Munda, following the complaint. The victim underwent medical examination as part of the investigation. City SP Kumar Shivashish confirmed the arrest and stated that authorities acted promptly given the case’s severity.
According to sources, the accused exploited the darkness. He allegedly took the child to nearby bushes. The incident occurred while the girl was warming herself near a fire. However, the victim reportedly addressed the accused as ‘uncle’.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. Moreover, residents expressed deep concern over the violation. The entire village has been left in disbelief over the incident.
Dhalbhumgarh police registered case number 62. The charges include Sections 64(2)f and 65(2) of BNS. In addition, Section 6 of POCSO Act 2012 has been invoked. Police are conducting further investigation based on medical reports.
City SP Kumar Shivashish stated that medical tests were conducted. The accused was arrested following the examination results. On the other hand, police continue gathering evidence for prosecution. Law enforcement has assured strict action against the perpetrator.
