  • Established Ganga Memorial Hospital in Jamshedpur’s Mango area
  • Served rural Baharagora and Ghatshila communities since 1990s

JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Nagendra Singh, a physician revered across Kolhan region for treating poor patients, died at Apollo Hospital in Delhi following a two-day medical crisis.

Dr. Singh began his career in the 1990s. He worked as a government doctor in Baharagora block of East Singhbhum district. The region lacked adequate healthcare facilities then.

He originally hailed from Darbhanga district in Bihar. However, his work primarily focused on Jharkhand’s Kolhan region. Moreover, he became known as “doctor of every household.”

Dr. Singh provided round-the-clock medical services to patients. His door remained open regardless of time. Consequently, rural and tribal populations trusted him completely.

He established Ganga Memorial Hospital on Dimna Road. The facility operated in Mango area of Jamshedpur. Furthermore, the hospital honored his mother’s memory.

The hospital provided quality treatment at minimal cost. In addition, many patients received completely free medical services. “No poor person should lose life due to lack of treatment,” he believed.

His health deteriorated suddenly two days ago. Family members rushed him to Delhi via air ambulance. Besides, doctors placed him on ventilator support at Apollo Hospital.

Medical experts made every possible effort. Nevertheless, he passed away on Saturday morning. The news spread rapidly across Baharagora, Ghatshila and Jamshedpur.

Social organizations expressed profound grief over his death. Healthcare professionals also mourned the loss. Meanwhile, thousands of patients remembered his selfless service.

Local residents shared emotional tributes on social media. “He treated our joys and sorrows,” one rural resident said. “Who will care for poor people at midnight now?”

Family sources confirmed arrangements to bring his body back. The mortal remains will be transported from Delhi to Jamshedpur. In contrast, preparations for final rites are underway.

He treated patients during snake bites and accidents. On the other hand, he never distinguished between rich and poor. His gentle smile and compassionate nature left lasting impressions.

Rural communities particularly felt his absence. Furthermore, tribal areas where he worked expressed deep sorrow. His commitment to serving humanity remained unwavering throughout his career.

The physician established healthcare as fundamental right rather than luxury. Additionally, he demonstrated that medicine serves life-saving purposes. His legacy will endure in Jharkhand’s collective memory.

Dr. Singh’s work transformed rural healthcare accessibility significantly. His health camp initiatives benefited marginalized communities. Meanwhile, his team achieved remarkable surgical successes in Adityapur. His expertise enabled complex procedures including tumor removal surgeries without charging patients.
