Excise Team Busts Spurious Liquor Factory in Chaibasa

Mini Plant Operating from Old House in Chadabasa Village Raided

CHAIBASA – The Excise Department conducted a major raid on Thursday morning at an illegal liquor manufacturing unit in Chadabasa village under Jhinkapani police station area.

The operation was carried out based on confidential information. Large quantities of spurious liquor were recovered. Moreover, raw materials for manufacturing were also seized.

Excise Commissioner Arvind Kujur led the operation personally. The team reached Chadabasa around 4 AM. Furthermore, they raided an old house location.

The mini factory had been operating illegally for months. It produced counterfeit foreign liquor brands continuously. However, authorities discovered the operation through intelligence inputs.

Officers seized 101 cartons of ready spurious liquor. Five hundred liters of spirit were confiscated. Besides, thousands of empty bottles were recovered.

Bottle caps and wrappers were found in bulk. Various manufacturing equipment was also seized from premises. On the other hand, packaging materials filled storage areas.

The total market value exceeds Rs 20 lakh. Some estimates place it at Rs 22 lakh. Additionally, raw materials add significant value to seizures.

Officials believe the illegal operation has extensive networks. The business operated across multiple regions systematically. Meanwhile, investigations will continue to trace connections.

The factory operator managed to escape during raid. Department teams are searching for the absconding person. In addition, efforts continue to identify other associates.

Previous raids in Chaibasa have exposed liquor smuggling. West Singhbhum district faces ongoing challenges with illegal alcohol. However, law enforcement agencies have intensified crackdowns recently.

The Excise Department has registered a case. Further investigation will reveal supply chain details. Besides, action against accomplices will follow soon.
