JAMSHEDPUR – A major burglary occurred late Thursday night at the home of Mohammad Halim Khan alias Raju on Road No. 2, Makhdumpur, Parsudih.

Unknown thieves broke open a window and entered the house. They carried away a trunk filled with valuables and later broke it open near the roadside. The culprits then decamped with jewelry worth about ₹1.5 to ₹2 lakh and cash amounting to ₹20,000.

Early Friday morning, the homeowner, Mohammad Halim, discovered the theft. He found the broken trunk near the house, with scattered belongings around it. Upon checking, he realized all the gold, silver, and cash were missing.

According to his son, Mohammad Tausif, the stolen items belonged to his grandmother and other family members. He said that years of hard work and family savings were gone overnight.

The incident caused panic in the neighborhood. Residents complained that thefts in the area have been rising but police patrolling remains inadequate. “We hardly see night patrols these days,” said a local resident.

Police from Parsudih station reached the scene after receiving the report. They launched a search operation and collected fingerprints and other forensic evidence. However, no suspects have been identified so far.

Meanwhile, residents have urged the police to strengthen night patrolling and install CCTV cameras in the locality to prevent future crimes.
