Key Points:

  • BJP leaders criticize Hemant Soren over Ranchi restaurant owner’s murder
  • Babulal Marandi says public losing faith in state administration
  • Police begin investigation into Kanke Road shooting case

RANCHI – The BJP has sharply criticized the Hemant Soren government for its alleged failure to control law and order in Jharkhand following the murder of a restaurant owner in Ranchi.

According to BJP state president Babulal Marandi, the city has been gripped by fear after the incident on Kanke Road. He said that criminals are now executing murders in crowded and supposedly safe areas without fear. He remarked, “During the Dhanteras rush, a restaurant owner was shot dead in Ranchi. The city is shaken. Citizens now live in fear, and the administration has lost public trust.”

Meanwhile, Marandi referred to another recent shooting at Kathal Mor, where a businessman was injured. He said that two such incidents within days show that the capital’s law and order system has collapsed. He held the police administration responsible, alleging that officers are trying to hide their failures instead of acting against criminals.

In a similar tone, Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash said that Ranchi is turning into a hub of terror and crime under Hemant Soren’s rule. He remarked that even small disputes are leading to murders, indicating a complete lack of fear of the law among criminals.

The latest incident occurred at the popular Chowpatty Restaurant on Kanke Road, where owner Vijay was shot dead late Saturday night. The dispute reportedly started over a food order. Sources said some youths had ordered biryani and got into an argument over veg and non-veg dishes. One of them allegedly fired at Vijay, hitting him in the chest.

Locals rushed to the scene after hearing gunshots. They found Vijay lying on the floor, and the assailants fleeing. He was taken to a hospital but declared dead upon arrival. Police officials reached the spot soon after and began investigation. A senior officer stated that the police are examining all angles and have launched raids to arrest the accused.

Police said they are confident of catching the culprits soon. The killing has sparked anger and fear among local traders, who are demanding strict action and more security measures in the city.
