Security Forces Nab CPI-Maoist Members Linked to IED Blast Case

Key Points:

  • Two active Maoists caught in Saranda jungle by police forces
  • Suspects involved in IED blast near Rakamati bridge on October 9-10
  • SP Amit Renu urges extremists to surrender and join mainstream

CHAIBASA – Two CPI-Maoist cadres have been arrested by security forces in West Singhbhum’s Saranda forest area during an ongoing anti-Naxal operation.

According to Superintendent of Police Amit Renu, the arrests followed an investigation into the IED explosion that destroyed a culvert near Rakamati under Chotanagara police station on October 9 and 10. The probe led investigators to the two accused, who were captured during a targeted raid.

However, the police said that searches are continuing to locate other militants involved in the attack. On the other hand, efforts are also being made to dismantle the local network aiding the group.

Meanwhile, SP Amit Renu appealed to members of extremist outfits to shun violence and take advantage of Jharkhand’s surrender and rehabilitation policy. “Returning to the mainstream can help them rebuild their lives,” a police source quoted him as saying.

Besides, police officials have tightened surveillance in border villages to prevent further Maoist activities. The district administration has also increased patrols in sensitive regions across the Saranda zone.
