Locals Accuse MLA Saryu Roy and Mango Corporation of Negligence

Key Points:

  • Residents protest against open drain water on roads
  • Locals accuse MLA Saryu Roy and Mango civic body of inaction
  • People warn of gherao before Chhath and Diwali festivals

JAMSHEDPUR – Angry residents of Subhash Colony in Mango protested on Sunday against persistent sewage overflow on the streets, blaming local authorities and MLA Saryu Roy for apathy.

The protest erupted on Road No. 5 under Ulidih police station. Residents raised slogans like “Saryu Roy Murdabad” and “Mango Nagar Nigam Hai-Hai”. They said the stench and filth from drain water had made life unbearable.

However, despite repeated complaints to officials, no solution has come. Locals alleged that the Mango Municipal Corporation only gives assurances but takes no action.

Moreover, people said walking on the road has become risky. Children and elders often slip and fall. Mosquitoes have multiplied, raising fears of dengue and malaria.

Women participants said it has become difficult to send children to school. Many bikes skid on the slippery roads. “We are forced to walk barefoot through dirty water,” said one resident.

In addition, protesters warned that if drainage cleaning and outlet repairs are not done soon, they will surround the MLA’s residence and the Mango Municipal office. They said upcoming festivals like Chhath and Diwali would worsen the situation with more foot traffic.

The demonstration saw significant participation of women and youth. The residents demanded urgent intervention to ensure cleanliness and safe roads before the festive season.
