CBI Special Court in Ranchi Awards Jail Terms to Nine Accused

RANCHI – The CBI special court in Ranchi delivered judgment in a 15-year-old case of tribal land purchase and sale in violation of the CNT Act.

The court sentenced former Jharkhand minister Enos Ekka and his wife Menon Ekka to seven years each in prison. It also awarded five-year and four-year jail terms to other accused.

Meanwhile, former Ranchi LRDC Kartik Kumar Prabhat was also among the convicted. In total, nine people were held guilty in the case.

The court further imposed monetary fines on all the convicts. However, the order stated that if they fail to pay the fine, they must undergo an additional one-year sentence.
