JAMSHEDPUR – Unorganized Workers Union accused a private bank management of violating labor laws and harassing contract workers through agencies.
The union filed complaints with Deputy Chief Labor Commissioner Dhanbad. However, hearings remain pending in the case. Moreover, officials are investigating multiple labor violations.
A press conference at Thakkar Bappa Bhavan in Dhatkidih revealed details. Bank management outsources cleaning, pantry, runner and security work. These tasks are permanent in nature. Furthermore, current workers have been employed for over 10 years.
However, wage determination policies remain unclear for workers. Banks across Jharkhand pay arbitrary rates through contractors. Moreover, service conditions are not defined properly.
Security personnel work 365 days annually without breaks. Weekly offs are not provided to them. In addition, earned leave is denied consistently. Besides, casual leave remains unavailable for workers.
Festival and national holidays are not granted either. Annual bonuses are withheld from contract employees. Meanwhile, bank management collaborates with agencies for harassment.
Workers face dismissal threats through contractor intimidation tactics. Complaints were filed with Assistant Labor Commissioner accordingly. However, similar violations occur statewide in banks.
Dalit, tribal and poor workers face discrimination. Their rights are systematically denied across Jharkhand. Moreover, exploitation continues without proper oversight mechanisms.
Contract agencies lack proper licenses from Labor Department. Private banks also operate without establishment licenses. Furthermore, Central Labor Ministry permissions are missing.
These violations cause significant economic losses nationally. Legal battles are planned against such injustices. However, workers continue facing exploitation daily.
Union President Sapan Kumar Ghoshal attended the conference. General Secretary Ramesh Mukhi highlighted worker concerns. Moreover, Umesh Mukhi explained legal violations clearly.
Other attendees included Ramdas Karuva and Vishnu. Amit and Neeraj also participated actively. Besides, Rakesh and Dilip Mishra supported discussions.
Furthermore, Alok and Rishi shared worker experiences. Sawan and Nandu represented affected employees. However, many workers fear speaking openly.
The union demands immediate license verification for agencies. Proper wage policies must be implemented urgently. Moreover, weekly offs should be granted immediately.
The union said that festival holidays need restoration for all workers. Annual bonuses must be paid as required. In addition, service conditions require clear definition.
The union said that the legal action will continue until justice prevails. Workers deserve fair treatment under labor laws. However, banks must comply with regulations immediately.
