JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi chaired a comprehensive revenue collection review meeting at the Collectorate auditorium, directing departments to enhance internal resource mobilization.
The DC emphasized that revenue collection forms a crucial administrative function. No department should lag behind their annual targets. Moreover, officials must ensure systematic achievement of prescribed revenue goals.
State tax department’s four circles showed mixed performance during review. Urban, Jamshedpur, Singhbhum, and Adityapur circles collected average 20% revenue. However, the DC demanded more effective and transparent collection processes.
Satyarthi instructed officials to prevent tax evasion and illegal exemptions strictly. Regular taxpayer audits and high-risk business identification became mandatory requirements. Besides, field inspections and data analytics will monitor GST portal updates continuously.
The District Mining Officer received specific directions regarding royalty collection. He must submit complete reports covering MNREGA vendor payments over recent years. Furthermore, mandatory CCTV installation at mineral license holders’ sites will ensure transparency.
Registration offices in Ghatshila and Jamshedpur achieved 18% revenue collection. The DC emphasized preventing illegal registrations, particularly of government lands. On the other hand, registry process transparency requires intensive monitoring mechanisms.
District Transport Office collected 27% while Motor Vehicle Inspectors achieved 12% targets. JNAC managed 18% collection against annual goals set earlier. However, Mango Municipal Corporation performed better with 39% achievement rates.
Jugsalai Municipal Council and Chakulia Nagar Panchayat both achieved 37% collection. Electricity department’s three divisions maintained 32% average revenue collection. Moreover, several units exceeded 100% targets during June performance alone.
The DC noted satisfactory June performance across multiple departments. Electricity divisions, transport, agriculture, and fisheries departments surpassed targets significantly. Besides, municipal bodies demonstrated exceptional collection efficiency during the month.
Certificate case reviews revealed pending recovery issues requiring immediate attention. The DC directed prioritized execution of revenue recovery certificates. However, attachment procedures and auction processes need systematic implementation.
Officials must ensure timely warrant issuance and legal recovery procedures. Regular monitoring of pending cases becomes essential for effective collection. Furthermore, Circle Officers and Certificate Officers received specific monitoring responsibilities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and Subdivisional Officer Ghatshila attended the meeting. District Transport Officer, DCLR Dhalbhum, and Land Acquisition Officer participated actively. Moreover, mining, electricity, and state tax department representatives contributed insights.
