ASI Seeks Leave to File Legal Case Against Senior Police Officials

Subordinate Officer Requests Court’s Intervention Over Alleged Harassment

Key Points:

  • An AI Subhankar Kumar seeks leave to file case against SP, DIG, and DGP.
  • Accuses senior officials of arbitrary behavior and workplace harassment.
  • Claims mental stress and demands action through legal intervention.

SERAIKELA – Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Subhankar Kumar, posted at RIT Police Station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, has requested three days of emergency leave to file a case against the Superintendent of Police (SP), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and Director General of Police (DGP) at the Ranchi High Court.

In his application, addressed to the SP, Subhankar accused senior officials of exploiting their positions and denying him legitimate leave for 2024 and compensatory leave for 2023-24. Despite filing a grievance on December 18, 2024, with no action taken, he claims the officials’ indifference has caused him severe mental distress.

Allegations of Harassment and Exploitation

Subhankar stated that he has been under constant stress due to the senior officials’ behavior. “I am approaching the court to prevent myself from taking any drastic action,” he wrote in his application, highlighting his desire for justice through lawful means.

The ASI also demanded financial compensation for his lost leave from the salaries of the accused officers. However, no response was received, prompting his decision to escalate the matter legally.

A Bold Move Sparks Debate

Subhankar’s appeal has stirred discussions within the police department. Seeking permission to approach the judiciary against senior officials has raised questions about internal disciplinary practices and employee welfare.

“This step is not just for me but for every subordinate officer who seeks fairness,” Subhankar expressed in his letter, calling his action a “great endeavor.”

The incident sheds light on the need for addressing grievances effectively within the department to prevent such escalations.
