Key Points:

- Hotels, bars and liquor shops inspected for suspicious activity
- Officials vow strict action against law-and-order violators
ADITYAPUR – The Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration and police have gone on high alert ahead of the upcoming Independence Day. Officers launched a special late-night checking and raid drive to maintain law and order and to prevent any untoward incident during the August 15 celebrations.
A police team led by Adityapur police station in-charge Anjani Kumar carried out an intensive inspection drive at Khadkhai Bridge and other major intersections in the station area. Suspicious individuals and sensitive locations were also covered under the exercise.
Vehicles moving through the area were checked, and people found loitering suspiciously were questioned. Meanwhile, police kept a close watch on those involved in loitering and other doubtful activities near busy spots.
The team also inspected hotels, bars and liquor shops during the operation. Officers questioned operators and people present at these establishments, and those found in suspicious circumstances were also interrogated by the Jamshedpur police.
Officials described the exercise as an important step to strengthen security arrangements and keep effective surveillance on anti-social elements. Police officers said maintaining peace and law and order during the national festival remains a priority. However, they added that suspicious activities are being continuously monitored.
The overnight drive reportedly created panic among anti-social elements in the area. Police clarified that action would be taken according to rules against anyone found disturbing law and order or involved in suspicious activity.
Besides the Adityapur checking drive, similar exercises have been conducted in past years across the Seraikela district ahead of national festivals. In addition, security has traditionally been tightened at liquor shops and public gathering points during this period.
Officials said the activeness of Adityapur police clearly shows that no laxity is being allowed at any level in the security arrangements. Checking and surveillance drives will continue across the entire police station area, they added. Moreover, similar drives have earlier been conducted near the Adityapur railway and market zones, and past operations, including one near railway stations, have also targeted suspicious activity ahead of major events. The Tatanagar area has also seen similar flag marches in the past.
Independence Day celebrations across Jamshedpur are expected to be held under tight security this year, with the Seraikela district administration coordinating closely with police units.
