Meeting Focuses on Garbage Disposal in Mango Amid Protests

Key Points:

  • Three alternatives for garbage dumping sites discussed.
  • MP suggested discussions with Jusco for long-term solutions.
  • Meeting included officials and local political representatives.

JAMSHEDPUR – A meeting was convened by MP Bidyut Baran Mahato to address the garbage disposal crisis in Mango municipal area on January 3, involving district and Mango Municipal Corporation officials.

The discussion revolved around identifying suitable dumping sites amid public protests against the current arrangements. Potential sites included areas in Betakocha and Adityapur. However, delays in setting up a plant in Adityapur raised concerns.

Betakocha Opposition and Alternative Options

Officials reported resistance from locals against using Betakocha as a dumping site. MP Mahato proposed engaging with local communities to resolve the issue. Discussions also touched on a proposed site in Adityapur where a waste processing plant is planned but would take six months to complete. Considering existing setups, the feasibility of using Sidhgora Baridih, as JNAC does, was also analyzed.

Coordination with Jusco Sought

MP Mahato emphasized the need for collaboration with Jusco to explore long-term solutions. He instructed the Deputy Commissioner to negotiate with Jusco for a suitable resolution.

Meeting Participation

The meeting saw attendance from Mango Municipal Corporation’s Deputy Commissioner Suresh Yadav and Assistant Deputy Commissioner Aqib Javed, alongside political representatives like BJP District President Sundashu Ojha. Leaders from various local committees, including Chittaranjan Barma and Rajiv Singh, also contributed.
