Raghubar Das Set to Return to Active Politics After Resigning as Odisha Governor

Former Jharkhand CM to Rejoin BJP and Assume Key Role

Key Points:

  • Raghubar Das to arrive in Ranchi after stepping down as Odisha Governor.
  • Plans to rejoin BJP and meet senior leaders in Delhi.
  • Served as Odisha Governor for 14 months, touring all 30 districts.

RANCHI – Raghubar Das, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and recently retired Governor of Odisha, is making a political comeback. He is scheduled to arrive in Ranchi today and is expected to rejoin the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. Sources suggest he may be entrusted with a significant responsibility within the party.

During his 14-month tenure as Odisha’s Governor, Das visited all 30 districts, focusing on connecting with citizens and simplifying access to Raj Bhavan. His tenure officially concluded with a farewell at the Governor’s residence earlier today.

Rejoining BJP and Future Plans

Following his reinduction into the BJP, Das will travel to Delhi to consult with senior party leaders. Having joined the BJP in 1980, he has worked at all levels, from grassroots to national leadership. Party insiders speculate that his return will play a crucial role in BJP’s organizational strategies in Jharkhand.

Reflections on Odisha and Vision for 2036

Das described his experience in Odisha as fulfilling and expressed confidence in the state’s future. “By 2036, when Odisha marks 100 years since its formation, it will emerge as a developed state,” he remarked. Reflecting on his roots, he stated, “I come from a laborer’s family and have always strived to serve the people.”

His renewed involvement in politics is expected to invigorate the BJP as it prepares for future challenges in the state.
