Market Committee Grants 15-Day Period for Proof Submission
Key Points:
- 142 shopkeepers met Market Committee Secretary over eviction concerns.
- Shopkeepers given 15 days to submit proof of legitimacy.
- Illegal shopkeepers also asked to justify their presence.
JAMSHEDPUR – A group of 142 shopkeepers from Mango Haat met with Market Committee Marketing Secretary Abhishek Anand today to address their concerns over eviction notices circulating in the media. The notices have caused distress among shopkeepers who have operated their businesses in Mango Haat for years.
The shopkeepers emphasized that they have been paying market fees consistently and should be allowed to continue their businesses without disruption. They also sought leniency regarding their situation.
In response, Secretary Anand assured them that a 15-day window has been granted for shopkeepers to present their case. During this period, they must submit proof of their legitimacy as rightful shopkeepers. Specifically, shopkeepers whose family members, such as fathers or grandfathers, were original allotters of the land but are now deceased must provide an affidavit and a detailed family membership list or genealogy records to support their claims.
Anand stressed that the process must follow proper documentation before any leniency could be considered. He also addressed concerns regarding 90 shopkeepers who had allegedly set up their businesses illegally. They, too, will need to justify their presence in the market before further actions are decided.
The shopkeepers, though anxious, left the meeting with an understanding of the steps they must take to resolve the issue. The Market Committee will evaluate the submitted proofs after the 15-day period before taking further decisions.
