JAMSHEDPUR – Thieves broke into the residence of Anil Kumar Gupta in Ulidih’s Shankosai Shyamnagar area on Sunday night, stealing gold jewelry and valuables valued at approximately ₹3 lakh.
The incident took place while Gupta and his family were visiting their village, leaving the house unoccupied since 8 p.m.
Neighbors discovered the theft early on Monday morning, noticing that multiple homes in the area had been bolted shut from the outside. After unlocking their doors, they found Gupta’s home open and in disarray.
Upon investigation, they found that the doors of two rooms had been broken, and a large box containing gold jewelry, including a chain, earrings, a ring, a gold pendant, and five silver coins, was missing.
Attempts by the burglars to steal a motorcycle were unsuccessful. Local resident Vikas Singh commented on the rising crime in the Ulidih area, citing numerous unsolved thefts and no recovery of stolen goods in recent months.
Singh expressed frustration over the lack of action in what he describes as an escalating crime wave in the area.
