MEDININAGAR – Thieves broke into the Jharkhand State Rural Bank in Medininagar’s Balvatika area on Sunday evening, stealing ₹10 lakh from the bank’s locker in a meticulously planned heist.
The break-in was discovered on Monday morning when bank staff arrived to open the branch. Staff member Manki noticed the grill and glass of a window dismantled, with a bundle of cash lying on the floor.
He immediately informed branch manager Saroj Kumari, who then contacted the local police. Upon investigation, it was found that the intruders had cut the wires of the bank’s CCTV and siren system, disabling security before accessing the bank’s interior.
Theft Method and Missing Cash Details
According to branch manager Saroj Kumari, the thieves accessed the main building by breaking the window grill. After entering, they forced open a cabinet where locker keys were stored. The bank’s locker contained ₹13.25 lakh in cash, of which the robbers managed to escape with ₹10 lakh. The remaining ₹3.25 lakh was recovered near the window where the intruders entered.
Footage from the disabled CCTV briefly captured one intruder before the cameras went offline. "It was a well-planned theft, and we believe they targeted the locker with prior knowledge," shared an investigating officer. The police are now analyzing the CCTV footage for leads, though the suspects remain unidentified.

This incident follows a recent wave of thefts in Palamu, where a gang has been targeting homes and businesses, exploiting weak points like windows and other entryways.
Police are pursuing leads and have registered a case to investigate potential links to other recent thefts in the area. "Our focus is on quickly identifying the gang responsible for these repeated incidents," noted a local police representative.
