JAMSHEDPUR – The National Democratic Alliance has revealed its final seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, with a surprising development in Ichagarh.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has opted to withdraw from contesting the Ichagarh assembly seat.
Meanwhile, AJSU party leader Harelal Mahto has been declared as the NDA candidate for Ichagarh.
Moreover, this decision has sparked celebrations at the AJSU party headquarters.
Supporters congratulated Harelal Mahto, offering him sweets to mark the occasion.
Furthermore, AJSU’s central member, Satya Narayan Mahto, honored Harelal with a garland.
On the other hand, Arvind Singh, alias Malkhan Singh, who was eyeing the BJP ticket, may now run independently.
However, the Ichagarh seat had been a point of contention within the alliance.
In addition, Harelal Mahto has been actively involved in the Ichagarh assembly for the past five years.
He is now preparing for a challenging contest against the incumbent JMM MLA, Savita Mahto.
Additionally, the NDA has finalized its overall seat-sharing arrangement for the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
The BJP will contest 68 seats, while AJSU has secured 10 seats.
Furthermore, Janata Dal United (JDU) has been allotted two seats, despite initially demanding 11.
Meanwhile, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest on a single seat in Chatra.
AJSU will field candidates in various constituencies, including Silli, Ramgarh, and Gomia.
"This alliance represents a strong front for Jharkhand’s development," remarked a local political analyst.
A party insider stated, "The decision to concede Ichagarh shows BJP’s commitment to alliance dharma."
