Legislator accuses minister of misleading public on TSUISL-built park funding

Key Points:

• Saryu Roy challenges Banna Gupta’s claim of MLA fund usage for park

• TSUISL confirms park built with Tata Steel funds, not government money

• Roy demands removal of unauthorized signboards and legal action

JAMSHEDPUR – MLA Saryu Roy has urged the Deputy Commissioner to investigate Health Minister Banna Gupta’s alleged false claims about a park’s funding source in Dimna Road, Mango.

The park in question, located in the middle of Dimna Road, was reportedly constructed by TSUISL (Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited).

However, Minister Banna Gupta has installed several signboards claiming the park was built using his MLA fund, Saryu

Roy claimed.

Roy stated, “TSUISL officials confirmed that the park was constructed using funds provided by Tata Steel Ltd. Not a single penny from the MLA fund or any other government fund was used.

The East Singhbhum MLA has accused Gupta of fraud and misleading the public. He pointed out that Gupta has placed signboards with his name in large letters at various locations in the park, crediting himself for the construction.

Misappropriation of credit

Roy highlighted that Gupta has named different sections of the park after notable personalities, including Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, while falsely claiming credit for their construction.

“By such unauthorized attempts, the minister has insulted these great personalities,” Roy asserted in his letter to the Deputy Commissioner.

The MLA has called for immediate removal of the unauthorized signboards and legal action against Gupta. He emphasized that this should be done before the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming assembly elections comes into effect.

Roy has also raised questions about numerous green signboards installed across Jamshedpur West constituency, bearing Gupta’s name and claiming to be courtesy of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).

“The government, in response to my question in the assembly on March 9, 2022, stated that JNAC did not install such signboards in Jamshedpur West constituency,” Roy pointed out, highlighting the discrepancy.
