Court Suspends SHO’s Salary in 2019 Assault Case Delay

ADJ-2 Takes Action Against Kadma SHO for Failing to Present Witnesses

Key Points:

• Court orders suspension of Kadma SHO’s salary over witness no-show

• 2019 assault case stalled for 5 years due to missing testimonies

• ADJ-2 issues strict directive to SSP after multiple ignored notices

JAMSHEDPUR – A local court has suspended the salary of Kadma police station’s SHO for failing to produce witnesses in a long-pending assault case from 2019.

The court took this drastic step after repeated non-compliance with its orders.

Meanwhile, the case, which dates back to a Saraswati Puja incident in 2019, has seen no progress for five years.

The informant, Avinash Upadhyay, had filed an FIR alleging an attack by a group led by Stephen Francis and others.

However, despite multiple show-cause notices, the SHO failed to present any witnesses, including Upadhyay and his friend Kunal Sao.

In response, ADJ-2 Aabhas Verma has written to the Senior Superintendent of Police regarding the matter.

The court’s decision underscores the gravity of the situation and aims to expedite the long-delayed proceedings.

Moreover, the chargesheet named Stephen Francis, Ashish Kumar Jha, and Mihir Mukherjee as the accused in the case.

On the other hand, the lack of witness testimonies has significantly hindered the case’s progress over the years.

This stern action by the court highlights the importance of timely compliance with judicial orders in criminal cases.
