JAMSHEDPUR – On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Health and Food Minister Banna Gupta, along with Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal and senior police officials, offered tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Mango Gandhi Maidan.
The group also honored former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.
During his address, Gupta reflected on the significance of celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary, emphasizing the continued relevance of his teachings on truth and non-violence.
He remarked how Gandhi, without ever raising a weapon or using harsh words, was able to drive the British out of India through peaceful means.
Deputy Commissioner Mittal, while paying homage to Gandhi, stated that his ideals remain a guiding force for society.
She added that the district administration is committed to spreading awareness about women’s rights, delivering benefits of government schemes, and advancing the Swachh Bharat Mission, with a focus on achieving open defecation-free villages.
