South Indian community celebrates 106-year-old tradition with rituals and fairs

JAMSHEDPUR – The South Indian community in Kadma commenced their 106-year-old Ganeshotsav tradition with a series of ceremonial events and distinguished guests.
Odisha Governor Raghubar Das inaugurated a grand pandal at the Ganesh Puja ground on September 6.
The following day, the auspicious Kalash installation ceremony took place during Ganesh Chaturthi.
Former Union Minister Arjun Munda and his wife Meera Munda graced the event with their presence.
Several other notable figures, including MLA Saryu Rai and former DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh, attended the ceremony.
Community leaders such as NVR Murthy, B Applanand Rao, and K Ramana Rao were also present.
A team of priests from Parvatipuram, Andhra Pradesh, conducted the ritualistic installation.
The event will feature daily Abhishek, Sahasranama, and Homa ceremonies.
Additionally, a special Kumkum Puja will be held every Friday.
In the evening, MP Bidyut Baran Mahto inaugurated the Ganesh Puja fair.
Health Minister Banna Gupta and other dignitaries attended the fair’s inauguration.
The Ganeshotsav, organized by Bal Ganapati Vilas, has been a cherished tradition in Kadma for over a century.
