JNAC Cracks Down on Building Violations in Sakchi

Officials Target Unauthorized Commercial Use of Basements

Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee enforces building regulations, converting misused basements into mandated parking spaces in Sakchi area.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has intensified its efforts to address map deviations in commercial buildings, focusing on the Sakchi district.

Monday marked a significant day as JNAC officials resumed their campaign against unauthorized alterations in building structures.

The committee’s primary focus was on transforming improperly utilized basements into their intended purpose: vehicle parking spaces.

JNAC’s action comes in response to numerous complaints about commercial activities being conducted in violation of approved building plans across Jamshedpur.

Out of 40 identified non-compliant buildings, JNAC has already taken corrective measures against 16 structures.

"We’re following High Court directives to remove encroachments," stated a JNAC official present during the enforcement drive.

The operation on Monday targeted multiple locations in Sakchi, including Holding Numbers 111 and 112 in the SNP area.

At these sites, JNAC oversaw the demolition of basement stairs, replacing them with ramps to facilitate vehicle access for parking.

The enforcement team also visited the Titan Eye showroom at Holding Number 104, where they removed a glass partition to create a pathway for constructing a vehicle ramp.

"Our goal is to ensure that basements are used for their approved purpose – vehicle parking, not commercial activities," explained the JNAC official.

This ongoing initiative reflects JNAC’s commitment to maintaining building regulations and improving urban infrastructure in Jamshedpur.

Local residents have expressed mixed reactions, with some praising the move for potentially easing parking congestion in commercial areas.

However, affected business owners have raised concerns about the impact on their operations and the short notice given for compliance.

JNAC officials have indicated that the drive will continue until all identified violations in the city are addressed.
