Ragging Incident Prompts Strict Measures at MGM Medical College

College enforces new rules to combat ragging, suspends hostel prefects

MGM Medical College has taken decisive action to address recent ragging incidents, suspending four hostel prefects and implementing new security measures.

JAMSHEDPUR – After a recent incident of ragging at MGM Medical College, the Anti-Ragging Committee has taken action by suspending four hostel prefects for a period of three days.

At a meeting held on Friday, the committee made the decision to look into the students who have been accused and, if they are found guilty, to file FIRs against them.

Dr. KN Singh, the college principal, SDO Parul Singh, DSP Patamda, and other committee members were present at the meeting.

The prefects who were suspended were questioned because they did not quickly report the incident of ragging to the college administration.

Parul Singh from SDO emphasized the seriousness of the problem, mentioning that this is the third reported case of ragging. They also urged for the repair of non-functional CCTV cameras to collect evidence in future incidents.

The college administration was previously alerted by the Anti-Ragging Cell about the complaint, which included photographic evidence.

The committee also mentioned that some former students were unlawfully staying in hostel rooms that were intended for current interns. This has led to overcrowding and has made it easier for ragging incidents to occur.

In order to resolve this issue, the committee has made the decision to ask former students to vacate the intern hostel within a week and arrange for the current interns to be relocated.

In addition, the college hostel gate will now close at 10:00 PM to improve security and prevent people from entering without permission.

"We want to make sure that all students feel safe and secure," stated Dr. KN Singh, highlighting the significance of these new measures.
