Jharkhand High Court Halts Contractual Hiring In Water Department

Court Bans Advertisements For Ramgarh District Appointments, Hearing Set For July 19

State Government Pledges To Fill Key Posts By August, Including Lokayukta And Information Commissioners

RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court has imposed a ban on advertisements for contractual appointments in the drinking water and sanitation department, specifically for positions in Ramgarh district.

Justice Rajesh Kumar’s court will hear the case on July 19, extending a similar ban previously issued for Deoghar district.

"We’ve filed a petition challenging these contractual appointments," stated Advocate Naveen Kumar, representing the applicants Jagannath Mahato and eight others.

In a separate hearing, the state government committed to filling key positions by August’s third week.

Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan informed the court that posts including Lokayukta, Human Rights Commission chairman, and Information Commissioners will be filled soon.

"The appointment process for these crucial roles will be completed by August," Ranjan assured the court.

The High Court has set August 6 as the date for the government to file a status report on these appointments.

This ban on contractual hiring highlights ongoing concerns about employment practices in Jharkhand’s government departments.

The court’s intervention aims to ensure fair and transparent recruitment processes across the state.

These developments underscore the judiciary’s active role in overseeing government appointments and administrative decisions.
