Police Arrest Exiled Criminal In Ranchi, Seize Weapons

Santoo Oraon Captured With Carbine And Pistols After Violating Externment Order

The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in Ranchi and surrounding areas.

RANCHI – Ranchi police have apprehended Santoo Oraon, a known criminal who violated his externment order, seizing multiple weapons in the process.

SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha announced the arrest during a press conference on Monday, joined by City SP Rajkumar Mehta.

"Acting on secret information, we captured Oraon near the Budhakhukhrao-Cambo road in the Mandar Police Station area," Sinha stated.

The police team recovered a carbine, two pistols, and seven rounds of ammunition from the suspect.

Oraon has nine cases registered against him across various police stations in Ranchi and Khunti districts.

"The charges include serious offenses such as robbery and murder," SSP Sinha elaborated on Oraon’s criminal history.

The arrest followed a tip-off received on Sunday about Oraon’s presence in a jungle area along his known route.

A special raiding team was formed to pursue and capture the suspect in the forested region.

This arrest underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in managing repeat offenders and externment violators.

Local authorities hope this capture will deter other criminals from violating externment orders.

The seized weapons raise concerns about the proliferation of illegal firearms in the region.
