Bhojpuri Day and Kabirdas Jayanti Celebrated in Jamshedpur

Akhil Bharatiya Bhojpuri Sahitya Sammelan honors poet saint, discusses language promotion

Literary gathering combines cultural celebrations with strategic planning for Bhojpuri’s future.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand branch of the Akhil Bharatiya Bhojpuri Sahitya Sammelan commemorated Bhojpuri Day and Kabirdas Jayanti at Tulsi Bhavan’s Prayag Hall on Saturday.

The event began with lamp lighting and floral tributes to Kabirdas, followed by Madhavi Upadhyay’s inaugural song.

Dr. Prasenjit Tiwari, Provincial President, delivered the welcome address to kickstart proceedings.

A meeting discussed key agendas including creative initiatives and lobbying for a Bhojpuri Academy.

Dr. Sandhya Sinha presented on "Kabirdas: The First Poet of Bhojpuri" during the session.

The poetry recital featured about 20 poets presenting Bhojpuri poems, songs, and ghazals.

Dr. Ajay Kumar Ojha, Vice President of the national body, shared ideas for Bhojpuri’s development.

The event saw the launch of "Angana," a folk song special issue edited by Dr. Sandhya Sinha.

Arun Kumar Tiwari chaired the program, with Divendu Tripathi conducting proceedings.

Participants emphasized the need for creative efforts to strengthen Bhojpuri in Jharkhand.

The gathering showcased Bhojpuri’s rich literary traditions while planning for its future growth.

This celebration underscores the ongoing efforts to preserve and promote Bhojpuri language and culture.
