Investigation Concludes on OHE Wire Incident Involving Neelachal Express

65 Railway Employees Questioned in Ranchi

Investigation into the OHE wire fall on the Neelachal Express concludes, with findings set to be reviewed by Railway authorities.

JAMSHEDPUR – The investigation into the incident where the overhead electric (OHE) wire fell on coach number S-5 of the Anand Vihar-Puri Neelachal Express has been completed.

Brijesh Mishra, who is the Chief Safety Officer of the South East Zone, called in 65 train and station duty employees from different departments to the Ranchi Divisional Headquarters for questioning.

The individuals provided their statements on Monday and Tuesday, discussing the events that led up to the incident and what happened afterwards.

The investigation report will be sent to the General Manager of the South East Zone Railway and the Railway Board for further action.

Chief Safety Officer Mishra recently conducted a thorough three-hour inspection of the Neelachal Express engine at Tatanagar. The engine is currently being repaired before it is sent to Kanpur.

The incident took place on June 1st, when a high-tension wire broke between the Suisa and Tiruldih stations of the Ranchi Railway Division. This unfortunate event resulted in injuries to two individuals, namely Ram Shankar Chaudhary and Rahul Kumar, who are residents of Raebareli.

Rahul Kumar tragically passed away on June 3 while receiving treatment at Ranchi RIMS.

During the investigation, the Chief Safety Officer recorded statements from Senior Loco Pilot RS Lakra, Assistant Loco Pilot S Mukhopadhyay, and Guard R Shukla of Tatanagar.

The thorough inspection and questioning are done to prevent similar incidents from happening again and to make sure that passengers are safe.

"It is important to conduct a thorough investigation and ask questions in order to understand the main reason behind the incident and take the necessary actions," stated an official from the South East Zone.

The railway authorities are currently waiting for the final report so they can take the necessary action based on the findings.
