Family in Mourning, Government Compensation Expected

A 47-year-old woman from Kalimati village drowned while bathing in a pond, leaving her family in deep sorrow.

JAMSHEDPUR – A tragic incident occurred in Kalimati village of Mahulia Panchayat on Tuesday when Bharti Singh, a resident of the area, drowned while bathing in a pond.

According to reports, Singh, aged 47, went to bathe in Soori Pukur pond on Tuesday afternoon.

While bathing, she accidentally slipped into deeper water.

Laborers working nearby noticed her body floating in the pond and alerted the family.

Her family rushed to the scene and retrieved her from the water, subsequently taking her to Niramay Healthcare in Galudih.

Doctors examined her but declared her dead upon arrival.

The family then informed the Galudih police, who documented the incident and sent her body to the subdivisional hospital in Ghatshila for postmortem.

Bharti Singh, who had been living in her father’s house in Galudih Kalimati after her husband’s death, leaves behind her mother, Purna Devi Singh, and sons, Vishnu, Krishna, and Haripad Singh.

The family is in deep mourning following the incident.

As per government regulations, compensation of Rs 4 lakh is provided to the dependents in case of accidental drowning.

Bharti Singh’s family is expected to receive this benefit.
