The Ghaghidih Central Jail in Jamshedpur is currently battling a severe water crisis, as rising temperatures and the failure of both new and old boreholes within the jail complex have led to an acute shortage of water, affecting over 2000 inmates.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Ghaghidih Central Jail in Jamshedpur is grappling with an acute water shortage due to the failure of boreholes and rising temperatures, impacting over 2000 inmates residing in the facility.
In response to the officer’s plea for assistance, Bagbera Panchayat Samiti member Sunil Gupta took the initiative to coordinate efforts to alleviate the crisis.
Through Gupta’s intervention, a 12000-liter water tanker from JUSCO was arranged to supply drinking water to the prisoners, providing much-needed relief.
The arrival of clean drinking water on Friday brought respite to the inmates lodged in the Ghaghidih Central Jail, who had been suffering due to the acute water shortage.
The failure of both new and old boreholes within the jail complex had exacerbated the water crisis, leaving the authorities struggling to meet the basic needs of the prisoners.
The timely intervention by Sunil Gupta and the support from JUSCO have helped to temporarily mitigate the crisis, ensuring that the inmates have access to clean drinking water.
The Ghaghidih Central Jail authorities are working towards finding a long-term solution to the water shortage problem, recognizing the importance of providing basic amenities to the prisoners.
