Special Cell Demands Appearance Over Manipulated Amit Shah Speech Clip
A summon has been issued to Rajesh Thakur, the President of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress, by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell in relation to a controversial video of Home Minister Amit Shah. The video purportedly misrepresented Shah’s statements on reservation policies.
RANCHI – Rajesh Thakur is required to explain the circumstances surrounding the sharing of an altered video on his Twitter account.
Thakur is to appear at the Delhi Police’s Special Cell office on May 2 to present his defense concerning the video, which suggests controversial changes to reservation policies.
The video in question, which went viral on social media, falsely presented Amit Shah as advocating the end of SC and ST reservations post the Lok Sabha elections.
It was later revealed that the video was from a rally last year in Telangana, where Shah discussed eliminating the Muslim quota, not the SC/ST reservations.
The BJP had lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission following the video’s circulation.
This case is based on a complaint filed by Sanjay Kumar Mehta, an official of the BJP Yuva Morcha, leading to an FIR at Argora police station.
