Gangaur Festival Concludes with Joyous Celebrations

Sonari Riverbanks Witness Grand Gangaur Immersion

The Gangaur festival ends with vibrant traditions and communal joy as women partake in immersion ceremonies on the Sonari Domuhani riverbanks.

JAMSHEDPUR – The sixteen-day Gangaur festival reached its grand finale on Thursday evening, as the Marwari community’s women and girls convened at the Sonari Domuhani river, where the Kharkai and Swarnarekha rivers merge, for the mass immersion of Gangaur and Jawara idols.

Participants from Sonari, Kadma, and surrounding areas engaged in traditional dances, songs, and prayers during the immersion, enhancing the festive spirit with the application of Abeer and Gulal.

The Bhayli Mahila Mandal Jamshedpur, led by President Kavita Agarwal and Secretary Manju Agarwal, took this opportunity to honor new brides within the community by presenting them with gifts for their worship of Nai Byavli Gangaur.

All attendees were treated to refreshments, following a collective Gangaur puja held in the morning at the Mahila Satsang Bhawan in Sonari, further solidifying the community’s bond and dedication to tradition.

The successful culmination of the festival was credited to the collective efforts of numerous community members, including Suman Agarwal, Maina Agarwal, and many others, who played pivotal roles in organizing and executing the celebratory event, showcasing the community’s unity and cultural fervor.
