The literary community mourns the loss of Dr. Rashid Anwar Rashid, a beacon of Urdu literature, who passed away in Mumbai.

JAMSHEDPUR – The literary world is in mourning following the demise of celebrated Urdu writer and poet, Dr. Rashid Anwar Rashid, who passed away on Sunday at 8 am while receiving medical treatment in a Mumbai hospital.

Dr. Rashid, an Associate Professor at the Department of Urdu, Aligarh Muslim University, was revered for his extensive contributions to Urdu literature, marking the end of a significant chapter in the genre.

His association with Jamshedpur, particularly through his role at Urdu Bhawan, highlighted his deep engagement with literary circles, enriching Urdu literature with his scholarly articles, poetry, and books.

The author of over 25 books and editor of several magazines, Dr. Rashid’s impact on Urdu literature was profound, leaving behind a rich legacy of translations, research works, and literary critiques recognized and celebrated by various academic and literary institutions.

The news of Dr. Rashid’s passing elicited a wave of condolences from literary figures and enthusiasts alike, with Dr. Hasan Imam Mallik, Dr. Mohammad Zakaria, and many others expressing their sorrow and paying tribute to his enduring legacy.

Although Dr. Rashid Anwar Rashid’s physical presence will be dearly missed, his contributions to Urdu literature will continue to inspire and influence future generations of writers and poets.
