Aims to Register Eligible Voters and Raise Awareness Through Various Activities
The district administration is set to launch a special campaign called ‘Vote Mahotsav’ from April 7 to 9, with the objective of adding eligible voters aged 18 and above, as well as those who have been deprived of registration in the voter list, through BAG, VAF, and ELC.
JAMSHEDPUR – District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, during a meeting held at the Collectorate Auditorium, emphasized the need to expand the scope of ongoing voter awareness programs and ensure that the message reaches every voter, making them aware of the importance of voting.
Verification Campaigns and Form-6 Registration
Concerned institutions in residential societies, schools, colleges, universities, booth levels, and government and non-government offices will conduct verification campaigns of eligible and deprived voters in their respective offices and residential and commercial premises.
They will assist deprived individuals in filling out Form-6 for voter registration.
Additionally, people will be made aware of the importance of voting through various activities and meetings related to voter awareness.
Ambassadors of the Election Commission
Mittal addressed representatives of social media influencers, art groups, sports, transport, and residence welfare associations, urging them to work with alertness and promptness in their role as ambassadors of the Election Commission.
He emphasized that the festival of democracy provides an opportunity to connect with social concerns and actively participate in strengthening democracy.
"All of you are organizations working in society, with which thousands of people are directly or indirectly associated. There is a need to come forward and actively participate in the voter awareness campaign so that the apathy towards voting in the urban areas of our district can be removed," Mittal said.
Residential welfare societies were asked to submit a list of names of new voters registered in Form 6 by April 10.
Honoring Top Performers
The District Election Officer announced that BAG, VAF, and ELC, which register the maximum number of voters in the next three days during the Vote Mahotsav, will be honored at the district level.
Awareness Through Interesting Activities
Deputy Development Commissioner stressed that the awareness program will be successful only when every eligible voter’s name is added to the voter list.
He urged social media influencers to use their platforms effectively to motivate youth to vote.
The administration will provide transportation for voters aged 85 and above, as well as disabled and pregnant women.
Various awareness activities were suggested, including mobile stickers, badges, rangoli, human chains, quizzes, morning processions, election schools, voter oaths, social media reels, video messages, plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, bike stickers, selfies with voter IDs, signature campaigns, essay writing, and slogan creation.
During the meeting, all members present took a voter’s oath and participated in interesting activities to raise awareness about voting.
