Unconfirmed Report of Possible leopard sighting in Jamshedpur’s Kadma Biodiversity Park

Forest Department initiates search operation, yet to confirm presence of the big cat

Thirteen days after a leopard was spotted in the Adityapur Industrial Area of Seraikela Kharsawan district, an unconfirmed report suggests that the big cat may have been sighted in Jamshedpur’s Kadma Biodiversity Park by a night guard.

JAMSHEDPUR – The report, based on the statement of a guard at the Kadma Biodiversity Park, has prompted the Forest Department to launch a search operation in the area.

The guard, identified as Indrajit, claimed to have seen an animal in the bushes while switching on the high-mast lights in the park on Thursday evening.

He also claimed to have videographed the animal, which he could not confirm to be a leopard, and informed his superiors about the sighting.

Upon receiving the information, the Forest Department team reached the park, closed it to visitors, and initiated a search operation.

However, the Forest Department is yet to confirm whether the animal sighted by the guard or reportedly captured in the video taken by him may indeed have been a leopard.

A news portal quoted the Ranger Digvijay Singh as saying: “Information has been received about the sighting of a leopard. A search operation is being conducted in the park. At present, the existence of leopard has not been confirmed yet.”

The alleged sighting comes after a team of experts from West Bengal and Palamu Tiger Reserve Force returned from searching the Adityapur and Gamharia areas of Seraikela in search of the leopard that was first spotted in the RSB Company of Adityapur Industrial Area on March 17.

The Forest Department continues to investigate the matter and has not come out with any communication on the issue yet. Therefore, everything that is being talked about is still unconfirmed and may be completely misplaced and wrong.

Latest: The Administration has now confirmed the sightinig of a leopard in Kadma and an advisory has also been issued.
