Ramtahal Choudhary Joins Congress, Eyes Ranchi Seat

Former BJP MP Switches to Congress for 2024 Elections

In a significant political move, former BJP MP Ramtahal Choudhary has switched allegiance to the Congress party, potentially reshaping the electoral landscape for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Choudhary, who has been a prominent leader among the Kudmi community and a strong figure in BJP for years, joined Congress in Delhi, marking a new chapter in his political career.

RANCHI – Congress has expressed strong confidence in Choudhary by likely fielding him from the Ranchi parliamentary seat in the 2024 elections, signaling a strategic shift in the party’s approach to the constituency.

This decision comes as the Congress party announced its intent to not renew Subodh Kant Sahay’s candidacy for Ranchi, opting instead for Choudhary, whose influence among the Mahato voters is seen as crucial.

The Congress party’s choice reflects a calculated move to capitalize on the demographic composition of the Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency, where Mahato voters hold significant sway.

The formal induction of Ramtahal Choudhary into Congress by spokesperson Pawan Khera and Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir underscores the party’s strategic recruitment of influential regional leaders.

In parallel, Congress has announced its candidates for other Jharkhand constituencies, including Kalicharan Munda for Khunti, Jaiprakash Bhai Patel for Hazaribagh, and Sukhdev Bhagat for Lohardaga.

Choudhary’s defection from BJP to Congress and his potential candidacy from Ranchi is seen as a pivotal move that could influence the electoral dynamics in Jharkhand, reflecting the ongoing shifts within the state’s political landscape.
