JAMSHEDPUR – The anticipation of Holi has led to a significant increase in pedestrian traffic across the city’s bustling markets, with residents eager to make their purchases ahead of the joyous occasion.
This year, a notable trend has emerged, with a growing demand for organic colors as more people opt for eco-friendly and skin-safe alternatives to traditional synthetic colors.
"I prefer using organic colors for Holi as they are gentle on the skin and better for the environment," said Priya Sharma, a college student, while shopping for her Holi supplies in Bistupur.
Preparations are also underway for the customary ‘Holika Dahan’ ritual, a symbolic bonfire ceremony that marks the eve of Holi and signifies the triumph of good over evil.
The ritual is set to take place on Sunday evening, setting the stage for the vibrant festivities that will follow on Monday.
"Holika Dahan is an integral part of our Holi celebrations, and we look forward to gathering around the bonfire with our loved ones," shared Rajesh Gupta, a local businessman.
On Monday, the streets of Jamshedpur will come alive with the joyous spirit of Holi as people come together to apply colors and gulal on one another, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie within the community.
The city will reverberate with laughter and merriment as friends and families revel in the festive atmosphere, spreading warmth and cheer throughout the neighborhoods.
Local authorities have issued guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable Holi for all, urging citizens to celebrate responsibly and respect the well-being of others.
